Vice President/Partner, Corporate Communications and Economic Development

Location: This role requires someone who lives in, knowledgeable of, and passionate about Michigan.


Job Summary: We’re looking for someone with 12-15+ years of experience who can co-lead an account focused on building business, talent, and tourism in Michigan. This person shares our love of the state. From Detroit-style pizza to the Village Cheese Shanty in Leland, from driving forward Michigan’s eMobility initiatives to growing small businesses across the state, we need a team member who can bring and execute big strategy ideas while also focusing on the day-to-day, tiny (but important) details and team management. 

This person will be a trusted advisor to the client as well as a day to day contact. They will lead the account seamlessly focusing on blending traditional and social media into a cohesive marketing platform. They will manage our internal team to ensure amazing, high quality work that exceeds brand expectations while managing the scope and budget of the account. Additionally, this person will support the Detroit office and Midwest region on business development efforts, agency marketing and staff growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point person for your accounts, handling all communication, leading client calls, meetings, and planning sessions. 
  • Advise clients on initiatives and programs and manage expectations against the SOW and budget
  • Work collaboratively with agency teams to ensure projects are running smoothly, on time, and on budget
  • Recommend insight-driven strategic programs and media activations that meet the client's business and communications objectives and goals
  • Develop media strategy documents, goals, media targets, pitch angles, and media materials that are strong in both structure and AP style, and require minimal input from senior team leadership
  • Develop strategies/content platforms and concepts that simultaneously leverage traditional and social media for our clients
  • Provide counsel and offer problem-solving solutions throughout program execution
  • Play a pivotal role in business development, both net new and organic, including soliciting new business, creating presentations, sharing the agency visions and point of difference
  • Participate in new business networking and RFP opportunities, as needed

Requirements:

  • An unflappable problem solver who can anticipate and proactively offer solutions to clients; anticipate problems before they arise through regular client check-ins and communication
  • Track record of leading effective campaigns and programs that have advanced client business goals
  • Demonstrate knowledge of top-tier traditional and social media outlets important to clients’ business
  • Demonstrate exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication that is clear, concise and direct
  • Showcase success managing resources and budgets and growing client accounts
  • Passionate about the clients’ business and continually focuses on strengthening client relationships, ensuring they know our agency and team value
  • 12-15 years of relevant experience in corporate and economic development communications – ideally in an agency environment.
